These divisional station subsets include (most or all of) those sites within the division that report both daily temperature and precipitation AND have no missing day's within their monthly rainfall series. Calendar Codes: (|) - daily report verifies that no rain was reported on that day (#) - daily report indicates measurable rainfall (0.01" or more) was reported (*) - rain that may have fallen on thsi date is included in the subsequent day(s) total ( ) - blank field indicates no daily report available; report unavailable or 'missing' Although several sites report daily totals based on midnight-to-midnight periods (including most airport locations) the majority of reporting stations record "24-hour" totals between 7am or 8am. (For example, for a 8am reporting station, an rains produced by an afternoon shower are 'officially' reported in the following calendar date's report.) A number of stations report only rainfall data --- of these sites, many will only report on days when 'measurable' precipitation has been observed (#). Therefore, rainfall-only sites may have reports only for days-with-rain; this is especially true for data posted as PRELIMINARY. Unfortunately, for these rainfall-only sites, there is no way to distinguish between days with no rain and 'missing' observations. (Comparison with daily reports from neighboring stations may provide some useful guidance.)
